Citizens on Extension
UGA has always been instrumental in giving back to residents, and partnering with USDA only magnifies that impact. I mean, who doesn’t like a Bulldog? Having those two organizations come together to help increase awareness for the nutritional value of urban agriculture is monumental.
Working with UGA Extension has provided my small business with a wealth of resources I can find nowhere else. It has put invaluable expertise at my fingertips to solve a myriad of plant disease and identification issues. Our county Extension office's thoughtful, in-depth and prompt responses have allowed my business to thrive, just like the gardens I design and install here in Savannah. I cannot say enough good things about the program. Thank you for the fantastic support!
Working with Extension agents has been something I grew up watching my dad do with Mr. Bill Tyson. Now I have my own agent, Blake Carter. UGA Extension has given our farm so much. I'm glad it's around to help farmers like myself.
I am so happy with our local UGA Extension agricultural agent. The energy and enthusiasm that the UGA Extension office brings to everything is very special, and our local agent is a great speaker and educator to our community.
Our county Extension office is such a great asset. Their agents connect us, are knowledgeable and always leave a favorable impression. We all realize what a gem and resource Extension is and are so happy to have them in our community.
The benefit to using Extension is the relationships they (farmers) have with the folks who are driving research and innovation at the university level. The agents are able to disseminate that info. The county agents also have a specialist and a whole department - if you’ve got an insect problem they have an Entomology department. There's way more resources than others, and agents are the bridge between the university and the farmer.
I love watching an agent grow a fledgling idea into a program that changes lives and impacts a community.
My greatest and most energizing Extension experience was introducing a possible new crop (citrus) to Georgia growers and then helping growers develop the industry.
