Sam Naff (BSA — Dairy Science '65) is an associate broker who specializes in business brokerage with Toles, Temple and Wright Inc. in Rome, Georgia.

Thomas Rodgers (BSA — Animal Science '67; MS — Agricultural Economics '69) received the 2021 Good Neighbor Award from Historic Athens Porchfest. Rodgers is a professor emeritus of the UGA College of Family and Consumer Sciences.

George Strickland (BSA — General Agriculture '68) received the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award from Madison County Chamber of Commerce. Strickland is the founder of Georgia Metals in Danielsville, Georgia.

Roger Bowman (BSA — Agricultural Economics '69) was inducted into Southeast Region Conservation Hall of Fame by the National Association of Conservation Districts in 2021.

Bowman has been a district supervisor for the Catoosa County Conservation District since 2000 and serves as chair for the district. He is a board member emeritus for the Georgia Association of Conservation Districts.

Jon Huffmaster (BSA — Agricultural Economics '80) retired from Georgia Farm Bureau after 40 years of service.

Scott NeSmith (BSA — Agronomy '83; MS — Agronomy '86) has been elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors. NeSmith is a professor of horticulture at CAES.

Since graduating from CAES, Taylor has earned a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and a doctorate in counseling psychology from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a professor of psychology Arapahoe Community College and the Metropolitan State University of Denver, both in Colorado.

Walter Kimbrough (BSA — Biological Sciences '89) received a 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Georgia State University Alumni Association. A native of Atlanta, Kimbrough is the seventh president of Dillard University in New Orleans and a nationally recognized educator, administrator and thought leader in higher education. Named the male HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) President of the Year for 2014 by HBCU Digest, Kimbrough has earned national renown for his expertise and scholarship on African American men in college, HBCUs and historically Black, Latin and Asian fraternities and sororities. A 1986 initiate of the Zeta Pi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at the University of Georgia, he is the author of the book, “Black Greek 101: The Culture, Customs and Challenges of Black Fraternities and Sororities.” Kimbrough’s effective and influential use of social media has been lauded in The Chronicle of Higher Education, the book “Follow the Leader: Lessons in Social Media Success from Higher Ed CEOs” and various online outlets. Selected in 2010 for the Ebony Magazine Power 100 list, Kimbrough previously served as president of Philander Smith College, vice president for student affairs at Albany State University and in various student affairs roles at Emory University, Georgia State and Old Dominion University.

He is the executive secretary for Georgia FFA at University of Georgia. Lastly also received the 2021 Outstanding Service Citation Award from the Georgia Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association.

Jake Tench (BSA — Agribusiness '17; Agriculture and Applied Economics '17) is director of government affairs for the Georgia Agribusiness Council, where he manages the council's legislative activities, providing member services to the organization's membership, directs education and scholarship activities, and supports all other aspects of the organization's work. Previously he served as a policy assistant to the Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture.
